. cate cauguiran tells us a tsunami warning has been lifted. >> originally authorities issued a warning a tsunami two meters high could hit the coast. thankfully this quake is nothing compared to the one last year. the tsunami was listed two hours after it hit. some roads were closed and rail services were suspended in the area. one city reported a 1 meter tsunami. there was no initial reports of damage. taking a look at the video you can see it caused continuous shaking in some areas. buildings in tokyo were reportedly swaying for several minutes. this rattled nerves in a nation still recovering from the devastating earthquake in march 2011. miagi was one of the areas that suffered the worst destruction. that quake triggered fuel melt downs at the nuclear plant. 60 people died and cars, boats and homes were swept away . regarding this quake, tokyo electric power says there are no problems at any o of the nuclear plants. reporting live in the news room cate cauguiran cbs 5. >>> how about our weather, got the weekend you said that earlier. that is just a great word. weekend, don't you th

danielle nottingham joins us live from d.c. where the house is set to reconvene in just about an hour. good morning. >>> reporter: vice president joe biden is in on the negotiations. mitch mcconnell asked him to help out after talks stalled. with hours to go it's hard to tell if lawmakers will be able to agree to a watered down deal. lawmakers left the capital sunday night without a deal in place. but leaders from both parties expressed their willingness to continue working. >> there's still significant difference between the two sides but negotiations continue. >> he want everyone to know i'm willing to get it done but i need a dance partner. >> reporter: some progress was made sunday when republicans dropped a proposal to slow social security growth but the main sticking point between democrats and republicans continues to be over the threshold of tax increases. president obama campaigned on raising taxes on income over $250,000. while many congressional republicans have pushed back against any tax increases. president obama is placing the blame for the impasse on the gop. >> they say tha

in a bank robbery. surveillance video captured a man robbing a u.s. bank on ralston avenue yesterday. the man between the ages of 25 and 35 approached the teller, demanding cash. the employee complied and the suspect ended up leaving. witnesses saw a silver sedan speeding near the bank but officers haven't determined if that car belonged to the suspect. >>> registered nurses plan to picket 21 kaiser permanente hospitals in northern california today. they are trying to draw attention to what they call inadequate staffing. kaiser officials deny that. the picket lines are scheduled from two to 6:00 this afternoon. >>> berkeley councilmembers took up the "no drone" zone issue last night. drones are unmanned aircraft used by the government to watch over u.s. ports and borders. the fbi and a dozen police and sheriff's departments have them. critics say the drones are an invasion of privacy. the council decided to send the issue back for a review. they will revisit the matter next year. >>> time now 10 minutes after 5:00. who is to blame for the benghazi attack? the scathing new report just

joins us now from newtown. marlie. >> reporter: good morning. today marks the fifth day of memorial here in newtown, connecticut. and a full week since the tragedy at sandy hook elementary school. and today, the country will stop to remember. at 9:30 this morning, people here in newtown will stop what they're doing and observe a moment of silence to mark one week since a shooter killed 26 people at sandy hook elementary school. then the church bells will ring again signifying another funeral for another child. pablo carmona attended the funeral of his friend and fellow boy scout benjamin wheeler. >> i don't really know why he had to die. but it's very sad. >> reporter: catherine hubbard liked to ride horses and allison wyatt wanted to become an artist. >> my husband asked me has this rocked your faith in god? and i said absolutely not. but it's done a few things about my faith in human beings. >> reporter: the outpouring of love and emotions for the families of the victims extends far beyond this memorial in newtown, something emilie parker's family found out when they took her body home
